About Dr. Zipporah Miller

A politician in a black dress shakes the hand of a seated constituent at an outdoor social gathering.

Zipporah earned a Bachelor of Science from Chadron State College, a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Bowie State University, and a Doctorate in School System Leadership from the University of Maryland College Park.

She began working as a science teacher and coach at Forestville High School and went on to serve as Magnet Coordinator for Prince George’s County Schools, Assistant Principal and Program Administrator for the Howard B. Owens Science Center, and K–12 Science Supervisor. At the national level, Zipporah served as Associate Executive Director for Professional Development at the National Science Teachers Association, shaping science education and learning across the country. Today, Zipporah serves as Director of Organizational Learning for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Zipporah and her husband, Peter, moved to the Adnell Woods neighborhood north of Old Bowie in 2006, and together, raised their family.

From 2022 to 2024, Zipporah completed the term of an outgoing member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education serving the greater Bowie area. In her short time on the board, Zipporah secured long-demanded safety improvements at Bowie High, saved Pointer Ridge Elementary from closing, promoted greater local science, technology, and math education opportunities, and brought the first public autism school program to Bowie.

In her free time, Zipporah serves with The Links, Incorporated, as Education Committee Chair for Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she co-chaired the Scholarship Committee investing in the academic success of promising area students. She previously served as a PTA President for Heather Hills Elementary School, a Model United Nations facilitator, and is active in her church’s Road to College and Teachers Matter ministries.

Grounded in faith, family, and a lifelong love of learning, Zipporah believes every family deserves access to quality services and a community that champions safety, convenience, and peace of mind.
